Registration for Fall 2026 is OPEN!
Benalto Playschool offers two program options: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, with both classes running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
We are a licensed, play-based preschool program designed for children ages 3 to 5 years, focusing on learning through exploration, creativity, and social development in a nurturing environment.
Our monthly fee is $125, with $100 covered through the Alberta Government Affordability Grant, making quality early childhood education accessible for families.
Our school year begins in early-September and runs through the end of May, following a traditional school calendar.
Benalto Playschool is proudly a non-profit, parent-run organization. Our Board of Directors helps guide and support the day-to-day operations of the playschool, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for our children and families.
We meet every few months and work together to organize a few simple fundraisers throughout the school year. Parent involvement is what makes our playschool special, and we truly value the time and ideas our families contribute.
Each year, we invite parents to serve in the following roles:
President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
These positions require only a small time commitment — approximately 15–30 minutes per month on average. Clear instructions and organized materials are provided, making each role easy to step into and manage throughout the September–May school year.
Board members are elected at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the beginning of the school year.
If you’re interested in getting involved or would like to learn more, please email playschoolbenalto@gmail.com. We would love to have you be part of our supportive playschool community!
Our classroom is a welcoming, nurturing space thoughtfully curated to support children of all abilities and learning styles. We provide a rich variety of age-appropriate activities, games, toys, and books designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence in every child. At Benalto Playschool, we believe that each child is unique, and we strive to create an inclusive environment where all children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to learn at their own pace.
Our daily schedule offers a balanced blend of teacher-guided activities and child-led exploration. During teacher-directed time, children participate in engaging experiences that help develop fine and gross motor skills, early literacy and numeracy foundations, and important social skills. During center time, children are free to explore different areas of the classroom, fostering independence, imagination, and problem-solving skills through play.
Throughout the day, we also enjoy snack time together, music and movement, storytelling, creative art projects, and outdoor play. These shared experiences help build friendships, strengthen communication skills, and create a strong sense of belonging within our classroom community.
